miscellaneous and the kitchen

Why oh why do I even bother. After cleaning off the countertops, doing the dishes, etc, etc, I came upstairs after being gone for only minutes to this....

I don't know why it takes THREE knives to spread Nutella on the countertop but apparently it does.

Last Saturday Matthew's football team got to go greet the Utah football players as they walk to the field for warm ups before the game. They even got to play around on the field. After all of that they got to stay for the game. Fun was had by all. Here are a couple pics. BTW Jake is not actually on the team but he just put on a jersey and pretended.

The past week was big for Jake. He lost his first two teeth. Actually he pulled them both out by himself. I am way too squeamish to even touch loose teeth. He was brave and the tooth fairy doubled his money for it. Here is a photo of the first loss. (We didn't take a picture of the second.)

After many many hours of work on the kitchen we are almost done. Yay! The floor is the only thing left to do and that will be done next week. Here are some of the previews. I am very sad to say that I didn't take before photos so that you all can appreciate the improvement.

Please ignore the blue tape on the back door, I still have a little painting to do.
A sample of the floors -- WAAAY better than the dreaded white tile and the light beige carpet.

Used to be Oak. Now it is white thanks to my new paint sprayer. Call me if you need to borrow it!
The Island.
My knobs and pulls. I love them.

I'll post pictures of the whole kitchen as soon as it is all done.

Ooh Mandy, it looks great! I can't wait to see the finished product when I come for Christmas.

Way to go Jakie for pulling out his own teeth!

I love, love, LOVE it! All of that work has really paid off. Love it.

Thanks for helping take the kids tonight. They had SO much fun. I think they just like being away from mom and dad for a while. :)

Amanda,

I am dying at your house. It looks so amazing. I love the arch you put in - brilliant. The colors are fantastic. If you lived closer, I would come over and see it in person. Good-bye oak and white tile - and good riddance.

Would it be okay if we rented from you guys again? We're ready to move back in. It looks amazing, we need to come for a walk through. Maybe while we are renting you could come work on our house. Thanks.

Oh my gosh I LOVE it!!! I just had Conwey put knobs on my kitchen cabnits last week and it makes such a difference. I kept thinking I needed to wait till I painted the cabnits first but then realized who knows when that will be so we just went ahead. Little things make such a big difference. But your kitchen looks great!
So did you paint your cabnits or are those new? If you painted (I think I recall your facebook saying you were painting them) then tell me really how hard is it? Because you know Conwey won't be helping me.
If you lived by me I would have come and helped you paint you know!
Love the arch too! Nice work!

Oh and by the way that was Jackson in the picture and yes he is girl crazy...he is my worst one! So no I don't think it's bad to tell them it isn't allowed! :)
Oh also I LOVE Nutella!!! Three knives is always better than one!
Miss you!
Oh one more thing...I really would love to borrow the spray painter! :(
But seriously did it make a huge difference is it worth going out and buying one? I want to do my staircase too......

Hey Amanda,

I found your blog on the Florence's list. How are you? :) I want to know about your paint sprayer...Where did you get it? Is it easy to use? Was it worth buying or should I rent? We just moved into a new house and the stair railing is that awful oak. I'm a little intimidated to spray it, though.

Can you email me at chelseagrimmius@yahoo.com?

Hope you guys are doing well!
